Kuruthi(holy slaughter)-Malayalam Movie-A taut thriller

Image
Kuruthi(holy slaughter)-Malayalam Kuruthi(meaning holy slaughter) is an intriguing, edge of the seat Malyalam socio political thriller about communal tension and the futility of hatred. A brilliantly created screenplay where every moment seems to be crackling with underlying tension, ready to blow up anytime. The taut narrative keeps you glued to the screen, not letting you waver for a second. The multi layered characters add to the intrigue. Most of the action happens in the course of one night when all the characters are thrown together in a secluded house by a turn of fate. Ibrahim(Roshan Mathew) a peace loving, devout Muslim man,his ailing old father and younger brother Rasool who is highly influenced by extremist mindset, Sumathi(Srindaa) a Hindu woman in love with Ibrahim but having her own individuality and strong opinion. Her brother Preman who lands up searching for his sister.Police Inspector Sathyan (Murali Gopi) and Vishnu an accused of murder in a communal clas...

Shershaah-Fitting tribute to a war hero

Image
Shershaah-2021 War heroes and war stories definitely need more films. To be seen and heard and to make people aware and realise the true spirit of patriotism. To know of the bravehearts who choose to lay down their lives to protect the motherland. Capt.Vikram Batra was one such war hero and Shershaah is a fitting tribute to the valiant soldier, who in a short span of life, achieved such a huge feat and immortalised himself forever. Siddharth Malhotra, effortlessly slips into the character doing full justice to each and every nuance of Capt.Vikram Batra.Right from personality, expressions, the gait of a young Army man he has nailed it to perfection. His best till date hands down!!Can't imagine anybody else playing the role. Have always liked Siddharth Malhotra. He may not have been a great actor. But has improved over the years and all his performances have a certain sincerity and are devoid of any kind of pretences or over the top, trying too hard kind o...

Tripling Season 1 and 2-Delightfully crazy

Image
Tripling-Season 1 and 2 Three crazy siblings with messed up lives are thrown together on a crazy road trip owing to crazier circumstances. From Rajasthan to Bathinda to Lucknow and Kolkata to Sikkim, Tripling is a crazy, fun ride all the way. Hilarious situations, crazy encounters with different people and the bittersweet interactions and conversations among themselves make Tripling quite relatable too. Sumeet Vyas,Maanvi Gagroo and Amol Parashar play Chandan, Chancal and Chitvan effortlessly. Well supported by Shernaz Patel,Kumud Mishra,Kunal Roy Kapoor,Gajraj Rao,Shweta Tripathi,Nidhi Bisht. The only irritant being the F words and bad lingo which seemed forced, unneccessary and misfit in a story about brothers, sisters, parents and family. At a couple of places it was absolutely cringeworthy. Pity can't watch such a wonderfully conceptualised show with family just because of the OTT fixation for abusive language. Otherwise it is one of the best and most enjoyable se...

Dial 100-A thriller on a predictable path

Image
Dial 100 on Zee5 Cast-Neena Gupta,Manoj Bajpayi, Sakshi Tanwar,Svar Kamble A strange call from a mysterious woman(Neena Gupta) to the Police emergency control room turns Sr.PI Nikhil Sood's(Manoj Bajpayi)life upside down as he grapples with trying to handle the calls, figuring out the identity of the woman and to save his family. So far so good. But what starts off as an edge of the seat thriller, soon turns into very predictable fare. The suspense element and motive revealed too soon making it just a regular cat and mouse game with some very unconvincing situations and ultimately leading to a very chaoctic and unsatisfactory climax. As if the writer and director lost way after a point and didn't know how to conclude. If a crime/suspense thriller doesn't have a conclusive ending or a very convincing open ending, then it makes you feel very cheated as if going on a wild goose chase. And Dial 100,like many other webseries and web movies these days, does just that. On ...
