Dil Bekaraar-Delightfully refreshing

Image
Dil Bekaraar-Disney Hotstar Series Not having read Anuja Chauhan's Those Pricy Thakur Girls yet, can't say how close the narrative is to the book or how much justice it does with the cinematic liberties disclaimer, but Dil Bekaraar, based on the novel,is a completely delightful watch on it's own as a series. A feel good, slice of life story based in Delhi in the 80s and 90s,Dil Bekaraar takes you on a refreshing, fun filled ride with the Thakurs and the Shekhawat's with ample doses of romance, drama, laughs and a dash of politics and chaos and above all that 80s-90s feel, which all who grew up and belonging to those times would relate to. It has a very Hrishikesh Mukherjee coupled with 80's-90's DD serials feel(which I think was the best era of television) except for the gaalis ofcourse. The fantastic ensemble starcast is another feather in the cap. Web and OTT have been the best thing to happen to the extremely talented Akshay Oberoi, who inspite of doing s...

Cash-Laughter is the best medicine

Image
Cash-Disney Hotstar Cash is a laugh a minute comic caper based on demonitisation times with not a serious moment. Amol Parashar as the central protagonist Armaan Gulati is a favourite after Tripling and was fantastic as Bhagat Singh in Sardar Udham. He is fantastic here too. Effortless performer with an easygoing charm and demeanour. Some extremely funny characters and situations woven around demonitisation keep you in splits. Cash also stars Smriti Kalra,Kavin Dave,Gulshan Grover,Pawan Chopra,Krishna Singh Bisht and Anand Alkunte. One of those easy going, hassle free, light films Cash is perfect for some fun movie watching. Special Ops 1.5-A class apart

Image
Special Ops 1.5 Special Ops 1.5 There are webshows and series. And then there is Special Ops.After the slickly made, adrenaline pumping, racy Season 1 of the espionage thriller, the epitome and benchmark of the genre, comes 1.5 which is actually a prequel to the 1st season. So what makes Special Ops so special(it is my topmost favourite show)? Fantastic story telling for one. Sheer, unadultrated, compelling story telling sans any frills, fancies and agendas.Exactly the way a thriller should be.Pure thrill and excitement. It is one of those series which keeps you on the edge throughout. You want to get to the finale quickly yet you don't want it to end!! The narrative is so clear.Inspite of so many flashbacks and the events going back and forth in the past and present and flashbacks within flashbacks, not for a moment does it lose it's grip or cause any confusion. Kaykay Menon is effortlessly brilliant. Himmat Singh is one of the finest characters one has seen. Vinay Pathak r...
