There are webshows and series.And then there is Special Ops.After the slickly made,adrenaline pumping,racy Season 1 of the espionage thriller,the epitome and benchmark of the genre, comes 1.5 which is actually a prequel to the 1st season.

So what makes Special Ops so special(it is my topmost favourite show)?

Fantastic story telling for one. Sheer,unadultrated,compelling story telling sans any frills,fancies and agendas.Exactly the way a thriller should be.Pure thrill and excitement.

It is one of those series which keeps you on the edge throughout.You want to get to the finale quickly yet you don't want it to end!!

The narrative is so clear.Inspite of so many flashbacks and the events going back and forth in the past and present and flashbacks within flashbacks,not for a moment does it lose it's grip or cause any confusion.

Kaykay Menon is effortlessly brilliant. Himmat Singh is one of the finest characters one has seen.

Vinay Pathak reprises Abbas Sheikh with the same dependable spirit.

Aftab Shivdasani is the surprise package here.A far cry from his film roles till now, he takes you by surprise with his mature and balanced look and performance.

Gautami Kapoor,Shiv Jyoti Rajput, Aiswarya Sushmita provide apt support.

Aadil Khan is another impressive performance and screen presence.

And Special Ops would be incomplete without the mention of the interrogating team of Kaliprasad Mukherjee and Parmeet Sethi.

And the ending leaves you with a hint of oncoming thrill with Karan Tacker making an appearance to herald a full fledged sequel.
