Marzi-A classy and sophisticated crime drama
In the picturesque town of Simla,a school teacher Sameera Chauhan(Ahana Kumra)dealing with break up from her fiance(Rajeev Siddhartha) and a reputed renowned doctor Anurag Saraswat(Rajeev Khandelwal) whose wife has committed suicide,decide to turn their attraction for each other into a date finally after some intitial hesitation and awkwardness.
The date turns into a late night rendezvous with drinks and the next day Sameera wakes up to realise that she has been physically assaulted but with no memory of the happenings of last night!!
Inspite of being dissuaded by her sister,Sameera decides to report the issue.But the police are not able to do much due to lack of any kind of evidence.
Both parties remain firm on their stands.Sameera of accusation and Anurag of denial.
Thus begins a game of lies,deceit and fight for the truth.But what is the truth?
While Sameera has a history of alcoholim,depression and another me too case where she had to withdraw the complaint,Anurag has his own skeletons of being a control freak under the garb of a polished man,a dead wife and some untold stories.
Marzi on Voot is a compelling crime drama with an interesting plot and some good performances.
Never been too fond of Ahana Kumra.But she has turned in a fine performance bringing forth the nuances of Sameera quite well.
Rajeev Khandelwal's persona is such that he lends a certain class to each character he plays.
Pavleen Gujral's police officer Rashmi is another interesting performance.
Rajeev Sidhhartha and Vivek Mushran's characters seemed a little half baked.Could have been given better dimension.
The twist at the end was quite unexpected!! And though it was a solution in itself,it still leaves scope for a second season.
Marzi is one of the better series I have seen.With a story like this it could have gone towards being sleazy or a typical sex crime show.But it thankfully steers clear of that path and maintains a classy and sophisticated crime drama ambience.
