Mumbai Diaries 26/11-An atrocious agenda driven story in the garb of a thriller
Mumbai Diaries 26/11
Another one bites the dust.A fictional account based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks centred around a hospital, Mumbai Diaries 26/11 has it's fingers stuck in too many pies rather than concentrating on the thriller quotient and the horror of the condemnable attacks.
Instead it slyly works on propagating the pseudo liberal mindset,provocative casteist and communal hatred statements through some characters, dialogues and situations taking the garb of a thriller and ultlimately lands neither here nor there.Infact they almost seemed like trying to evoke empathy for the terrorists and justify terrorism by making references to the 1984 riots!!
Overt melodrama and exaggerated portrayals of some characters and situations and extremely tacky picturisation of the terrorist attacks,ambush and face off with the Police specially in the hospital would put the 90s Mithun flicks to shame.And inbetween all this they try to touch upon the personal lives and dilemmas of the doctors and staff in a most half hearted half baked manner adding to the chaos.
On top of that the dialogues are of such imbecile and pedestrian level showing a complete lack of imagination and knowledge of language on the dialogue writer's part.The writer's vocabulary consists mainly of F**k which is used repeatedly in every sentence by most of the characters in any situation and at one point really felt like shaking these pseudo modern writers and makers out of their F*** world!!
Speaking of performances,Mohit Raina is a favourite and packs a solid punch as the eccentric and headstrong Dr.Kaushik Oberoi but ultimately everything is diluted by the tacky treatment and the agenda drìven story telling.
Konkona Sen Sharma,Shreya Dhanwanthary,Satyajeet Dubey,Mishal Raheja,Tona Desai,Natasha Bhardwaj, Mrunmayee Deshpande,Mohini Sharma,Prakash Belawadi and others make up the rest of the cast.Sonali Kulkarni in a one scene appearance as the martyred ATS chief's wife gives Mohit Raina a stinging slap for saving the injured terrorist's life who killed her husband and many others.Something which actually the makers and writers of this atrocity deserved!!
